We understand that customers may not want to come into the service center for every little part replacement. Doing your own replacements is a great way to save on both parts and service visits. So, to help out all of our handy customers looking to perform their own vehicle maintenance, here are three Chevy parts you should never buy used…

Battery

The seasons can wreak havoc on a car battery. Extreme temperatures can cause your battery to lose a great deal of charge capacity, making its effectiveness diminish over time. Even if the battery was lightly used, the clock has already started for that component, and you will most likely not get as much mileage out of it compared to a new one.

Tires

This one may seem self-explanatory, but you may be surprised at the amount at which used tires are reused. Your vehicle’s tires are one of the components that constantly degrades with use, meaning that used tires are nowhere near as effective at maintaining traction as you need them to be. In terms of your vehicle’s handling ability on the road, new tires can be your best friend.

Shocks

Another instance of the road’s impact on your vehicle is the wear that occurs on your vehicle’s shock absorbers. The lifespan of shocks varies depending on the state of the roads you traverse, but at the end of the day, the impacts absorbed by them limit their compression ability in the future. Make sure to protect your vehicle’s suspension by replacing your shocks with new ones when needed.

Now that you know which parts to never buy used, reach out today to order brand new ones for your inventory! Should you have any remaining questions concerning Chevy service, one of our technicians at the Valley Chevrolet of Hastings service center would be happy to help out down the road!
